MEET YOUR TEACHERS
Carla Hannon is the creator and founder of Balance Me Yoga. She loves all things yoga, and loves to share her passion for yoga. Carla enjoys teaching all aspects of yoga both on and off of the mat. Her classes are infused with thoughtful combination of asana (poses) linking breath with movement and holding some poses to take the practice inward. She constantly studies to bring more to each of her classes and time with the community. Carla believes yoga is for every body and everybody and teaches her classes with a strong use of props to deepen and assist in poses.
Carla has 500 hours of yoga teacher training through Om My Yoga and is an "experienced" level teacher through Yoga Alliance as well as a continuing education provider. She is also trained in Yin and restorative yoga. She is also an Ayurveda Yoga Specialist and Ayurveda Health Counselor through Himalayan Institute. Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga, healing yourself through holistic practices and routines. Carla is a certified Thai Yoga Bodywork professional, Reiki Master and DoTerra Wellness advocate.
Her love for yoga transcends into all aspects of her life.
Shelley fell in love with yoga around 2005 when she realized that some of the most beautiful moments she ever experienced were on her yoga mat. Yoga has given her the ability to carry the practice into her life and enables her to fully experience life with joy and grace.
She has been teaching yoga since 2008 and completed her 200 hour Yoga teacher training with Diane Finlayson at Yama Studio in Baltimore in 2010 and her 250 hour Meditation Teacher Training in 2011. She completed her 300 hour yoga teacher certification with Yama Yoga Collective in 2017.
Shelley’s classes are based in traditional hatha yoga, and include pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and are infused with peace, lightheartedness, and joy. Shelley is dedicated to Bhakti yoga, the yoga of love and devotion, and sometimes includes chanting and music in her classes. She encourages students to never push beyond their physical limits, and includes principles of the yoga yamas and niyamas into her practice and teaching.
Shelley is excited to share her love of yoga, meditation, and Kirtan with the Yoga community of York
