I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I did this thing, you know, I traveled a ton and went back to school to become an Ayurveda Health Counselor. Our teacher joked that our class has traveled great distances through great weather to come to training. We traveled through torrential downpours and crazy storms, we’ve arrived after tornados ripped through Pennsylvania and had to navigate our way to the Himalayan Institute around downed trees, power lines and closed roads. We also traveled through not one but two blizzards just to attend training. This last weekend of training, it snowed again!!

I don’t feel nearly ready to share all that I’ve learned, I’m still digesting it and I know as I did as I completed by 500 hours of yoga training, there is always more to learn. The first step truly with anything in life is embracing it in your life, practicing it every single day. I feel like I’ve paused portions of my life for yoga teacher training, and second, and definitely the most challenging to me, the Ayurveda training, but the pause is exactly what I needed to do for myself. I know I was led to both trainings as part of my Dharma (life purpose) in this life.

I learned about Ayurveda and the processes we go through to help one maintain good health or prevent disease in one’s body, but it’s so much more than that. It is the 5,000 plus year old Sister Science of Yoga, the science of life, the science of knowing. The more we know ourselves the better we can do at maintaining our physical, mental and spiritual health. Very few modern day sciences focus on all three at the same time. Yoga has always helped me and will continue to help me but Ayurveda is absolutely amazing.

I also know that intuitively I was already doing quite a bit of the Ayurveda daily practices (dinacharya) before even knowing anything about Ayurveda. I know that learning about Ayurveda has brought me the desire to learn even more, to dig deeper into this path. Ayurveda has definitely been changing for me. I’ve learned so much about myself yet again, going through these trainings you always uncover the light and dark truths about yourself. The best way to learn and grow is to dive in deep and learn all you can, uncover those dark truths and address them head on. Acknowledge and embrace the light and dark truth about yourself, let those be your guide as you learn and grow.

I know many of my friends and students have been curious enough to ask me questions about what I’m learning. I’ll gladly share, when I don’t have an immediate answer, I know I now have the tools to find the answers. We are all learning during our time in this life, this much I know for sure. I will continue to be the student forever, maybe not with as much intensity as the last few years. Take control of your health and live your best life possible.
